Dispenser receipt printers are often forgotten about, and sometimes even ignored. After all the station employees may not know there is a problem unless a customer complains, or they walk out to the dispenser to check them.
Replacing low/empty paper rolls and clearing jams regularly will maximize proper printer operations and extend the life of the printer. Many printers will still attempt to print a receipt while having a paper jam, causing abnormal and excessive wear to the printers’ motor and gears. This additional wear can lead to replacing the printer sooner than necessary. Every technician has been told at least once “I checked the paper this morning”, only to find jammed receipts that are days and even months old. Other times, the paper is empty, or just loaded incorrectly. Ensure that the station employees are aware of the importance of checking the printers regularly, and how to replace the paper and clear jams.
